FLAT-TOP PRO & NARROW
LINER BAKING INSTRUCTIONS |
|
Thank-you for
choosing the either the FLAT-TOP PRO or FLAT-TOP NARROW
camera helmet.
Please read these steps
carefully BEFORE fitting your new helmet.
The FLAT-TOP PRO & NARROW Basics
The liner is made up of sections of a thermo-formable
foam, which when heated will soften and can be molded
during the cooling process.
Enclosed with your helmet you
will find a shim kit.
-
Try on the
helmet before baking the liner. Use the shim kit
provided to ‘perfect’ the fit by adding or removing
foam from the outer liner until a tight,
uncomfortable fit is acquired. The baking process
will warm and soften the liner in such a way that it
‘custom molds’ to your head.
-
Preheat
your oven to 200° Fahrenheit or 80° Celsius.
Carefully remove all liner sections
except
for the BONE LATCH PAD from your helmet and place
only
the top and chin pads on a piece of cardboard
in the oven. Do not allow any part of the liner to
touch the edges or metal of the oven.
-
Heat the
foam 15 minutes or until the heat has permeated the
liner sufficiently. Remove these pieces from the
oven and quickly but carefully re-insert them into
the helmet.
-
Immediately place the helmet on your head, close and
lock the Bone. The pad will be hot, however should
not burn your head.
Leave the ladder strap two
clicks from being completely closed on the helmet.
The helmet should be fitted in this position
but NEVER jumped in this position. Doing this make
for a tighter fit when actually jumping the helmet.
When jumping the helmet the bone should almost meet
the Helmet. Make sure the helmet is straight by
looking in a mirror. Do not talk during this cooling
process. This cooling process takes about 10-15
minutes.
-
While
waiting for the liner to cool, place the ear
sections in the oven on the cardboard.
-
When the
top is cooled and the earpieces are sufficiently
heated, remove the helmet and take out the top pad
and carefully place the earpieces in their
appropriate locations inside the helmet then
reinsert the top pad.
-
Put the
helmet on and again make sure it is straight, allow
the ears to cool.
-
REMOVE THE CARDBOARD FROM THE OVEN
-
When all
sections have cooled completely, your Flat-Top
should have a tight secure fit.

OPTIK CAMERA HELMET
LINER BAKING INSTRUCTIONS |
|
Thank-you for
choosing the OPTIK camera helmet.
Please read these steps
carefully BEFORE fitting your new helmet.
The OPTIK Basics
The liner is made up of a thermo formable foam, which when
heated will soften and can be molded during the cooling
process.DO NOT HEAT TOP PAD,
just ear and chin pieces
Remember, because this is a camera helmet, you want it to
fit tighter than the normal skydiving helmet.
Included with
your helmet you will find a few extra pieces of foam
(shims). Put the helmet on your head and feel the fit. If it
is too loose, use the shims supplied and place them inside
the liner, where needed. If you need only the back or the
ears (but not both), cut the piece and fill the liner only
where necessary. If the helmet is unbearably tight, remove
the thinnest padding that is inside the liner. If it is only
slightly tight, follow the following optional baking
instructions for a perfect fit.
OPTIONAL
Baking Instructions
-
The Optik
fits most heads perfectly, without the need for baking.
But, if you want the liner to fit just a little more
comfortably, follow these custom-baking instructions,
after you have added or removed shims for a good fit.
The liner will compress or expand slightly where needed.
-
DO NOT HEAT TOP PAD,
just ear and chin pieces -
Preheat oven
to 200 Fahrenheit or 80 centigrade.
-
Place the
helmet on a piece of cardboard on a baking sheet in the
center of the oven. Make sure the helmet is not touching
any sides of the oven.
-
REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE CARDBOARD AFTER BAKING &
TURN OFF THE OVEN!!!
-
Leave the
helmet in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the heat
permeates the helmet making it more flexible.
-
Remove the
helmet and place it on your head.
-
Using a
towel or pot holders, apply pressure at the ears,
pushing the helmet straight in towards your ears.
-
Hold the
helmet in this position until the helmet cools and
becomes less flexible. Approximately 10 minutes.
-
REMOVE THE CARDBOARD!!!

the wearer has a larger size head, baking only the liner
will do the trick!. Just bake the liner as instructed below,
and put the helmet on your head. NOT pushing in the sides.
