EXTERNAL FEATURES
A sleek,
protective clam-shell design to cover the more delicate
parts of the M-4/AR-15 and still be operational during hot zone
landings. The M-4/AR-15 weapon shroud's clam-shell design
protect not only the rifle but also sight and laser
attachments that could be knocked out of alignment during a
parachute jump and landing.
We have combined our superior molding and composite layering
techniques to build a lightweight carbon fiber composite
shell that can be customized for most rifle and sight
configurations.
Strong, cargo grade carabineers and high-tensile strength webbing
provide the user multiple options for attachment points and
locations for a wide variety of personnel configurations
combined with the ease and security of Velcro make the
M-4/AR-15
weapon shroud a perfect compliment to the needs of a
military jumper.
CONSTRUCTION
The
M-4/AR-15 shroud is made from
high-impact resistant carbon-fiber composites.
Parts are made by hand lay-up (a process where the
fabric
is cut and applied to molds using
epoxy resin). Parts made using this process
are cured by a combination of heat, pressure, vacuum and an inert
atmosphere.
We start by placing the parts into a plastic, temperature
resistant bag and into the computer controlled Autoclave. A vacuum is applied to the bag to remove air and
volatile products. The autoclave is sealed. The computer
controls the heat, pressure and cure time. The result of this
process, is an extremely lightweight yet strong shell.
